Getting ready for Christmas
First Pony ride
We are on the count down to Evan's first Christmas and birthday. What an exciting time it is in this Lafko home. The last few weeks Evan has been pretty sick but been quite the trooper. He got sick with a nasty virus the day before Thanksgiving and 2 weeks later he was diagnosed with pneumonia. But through most of it he continued to be a pretty happy kid. Evan went to a pretty neat birthday party a couple of weeks ago, it had a farm theme. There was a petting zoo and pony rides. Evan's daddy quickly told him not to get any ideas. Here are some pictures and video of the pony ride.

New Yard Service
Since the weather has cooled off we have been spending lots of time outside. This video was from about a month ago. It was to cute not to share.
Better Late than never
We continue to be busy over here at this Lafko house. I have finally downloaded our Halloween pictures. Evan had a great time trick or treating with his cousin Bryce. Evan continues to be a busy boy. He is all over the house and faster than you can catch him. We are going to Las Vegas this weekend and taking Evan to his first Thunderbird air show. His bob bob, my dad, is very excited to show Evan all of the great things in the Thunderbird hanger. Here are some pictures from the last month.

Fall Carnival
Every October my school as a Fall Carnival. This year we took Evan and Bryce. The boys had a great time especailly Bryce who got to Trick or Treat. After we got home we put the boys in their PJs and started to settle down for bed. Bryce asked to give Evan his night time bottle. Here is the video from that!!!! Being that David and I didn't have any cousins I love the fact that Evan is growing up with his living so close by. Bryce can turn an Evan frown upside down in no time flat.
First Hair Cut
Evan has been through many stages with his hair. The first being when he was born, we were shocked by the head of DARK hair that came with Evan.
Then by April it started to thin
and by the end of May he was our bald baby.
Well that didn't last for long - by Sept he had a full head of hair again, though not as dark as he had begun life with.
Through all of these stages I had done a few little trim ups on my own and with Carole's help. But by the beginning of this month I decided it was more that I could do and he needed a real hair cut, so when fall break came around I found myself with some extra time and Evan and I headed over to Snip and snaps, a place that specializes in children's hair cuts. The hairstylist ask if she should just use the scissors or the clippers. I said by all means the clippers, the sooner we get him used to them the better and as you can see below he was a trooper!!!! What a great little guy we have been blessed with!!!

9 months
Yes again I have been lagging behind on the blogging. What a busy month we have!! Evan turned 9 months old last week and it wasn't a very exciting time, he was sick with croup! And who knew that the mommy could get it too? So most of last week Evan and I spent hanging out together at home, thank goodness for my mom who took mercy on us and stayed over a little longer to help out!!
The biggest new of the month is that Evan is totally mobile and no where in the house is immune from him. He has been crawling for about 8 weeks now but has definitely mastered the art, even the poor dogs are not safe. Evan is no longer entertained by his stationary toys, he like things that move or that he can push. He loves to follow us from room to room and has mastered the stairs earlier than he should of out of his love for the dogs. They sit at the top of the stairs and wait for us, well when he figured that out it gave him the desire to climb the stairs and get the dogs. Marty and his friend Pat had to fasten all the bookcases in the house to the wall a couple of weeks ago and the wine rack has now been moved to an area that Evan can not get to because you see about 4 weeks ago Evan mastered the art of pulling up to stand and what fun is it to crawl when you can hold on to things and walk?? I was completely amazed at how quickly that happened. The first few times he pulled up he was so wobbly but within about 2 days he was pretty sturdy and by the end of the week was walking along while holding on to the furniture. He is cute because he will even crawl over to us and pull up to a stand on our legs. This week he has started letting go and standing unsupported. I have to learn to stay quiet because it always takes me by surprise and I scare him and he sits back down. Evan started taking swim lessons at the beginning of the month and is a natural swimmer!! Even his instructor was amazed. She told us to be ready for him to cry and swallow a lot of water but neither was the case. Every baby in the class cried but Evan and he was the new guy. When we put him underwater he held his breath just like he had been swimming forever. At the end of the night we let him go down the slide by himself and he LOVED it! We are so excited that we has taken to the water like a fish. We hope to get some pictures posted from the next class.

Yes he crawls through and under things that are in his way.

We are very excited about October. The weather here in Phoenix has really started to cool off and we have been doing more outside. We are frequently found at the park and walking the neighborhood after dinner. Last night we took our 2 nephews and neice to the pumpkin patch for some fall fun!!! Marty's birthday is tomorrow and we have already been celebrating for a week. My parents had a little dinner party for Marty last weekend where Marty received a new set of Ping golf clubs, the smile has not yet left his face. Evan went to spend the afternoon with his girlfriend Holly today and Marty and I went to see Star Wars the Concert. Tomorrow night we will have Marty's family over for pizza and cake. It is always fun to get the kids all together. Evan continues to be very social. He loves his time with his cousins.
Next up for us is Halloween. So until then here are some pictures from the past few weeks.

Another possible pilot??
Born to be a Cardinals fan!!
Yes we fully believe that Evan was born to be the ultimate Cardinals fan and plan on supporting him in those efforts. He attended his first Cardinals game last night and was so good. He sat in Marty's lap for the whole first half and his eyes never left the field. The second half he was entertained by the kids behind us and then he eventually fell asleep on the woman sitting next to me. Here are some pictures of the night. We can't wait to take him again!! Thanks Uncle Dave and Bob bob.

What a cute Cardinals family!!!!

Bath time
The other night I was doing dishes and Evan was fussy in his highchair. It was bath night so I thought, well I will put him in the sink while I finish the dishes. My 2 year old nephew was over that night and thought that was pretty neat and well the video tells the rest. We think they are pretty darn cute!!!!
Back to School
Well the mommy has gone back to school, and yes there was a little kicking and screaming involved, by her, but she has made it through the first 2 weeks and is already counting down to summer vacation. Evan continues to be a lucky little boy and doesn't have to go to daycare. His Grandma Evans retired in May to help take care of him and he is loving it!!! Before I had to go back to school we took one last family vacation and went to Santa Fe for a few days. The weather was fantastic and daddy got to play golf with Grandpa Evans every day!!!! Everyone was very happy. Here are some pictures from the last month. Evan's big milestone is that he is offically crawling!!!! He has been rolling and scooting around for 2 months now but as of 2 weeks ago he finally got the hands and knees crawling down. He keeps grandma on her toes all day.

Our little Traveler!!

Evan's six month picture.
Our summer is going to fast. I can not beleive that it as been a month since I have written and only 2 weeks until I return to school. Evan is following in his mothers footsteps of being a summer traveler. As you know we started the summer in San Diego, well since then Evan has spent a week in Atlanta, a week in Las Vegas and on Wed. we are heading to Santa Fe. He is so go with the flow and is always a hit on the airplane, flight attendants take turns passing him around.
He still continues to love the pool and bathtime, we think he will be a swimmer. He has started crawling and will hold himself up while standing but has yet to pull himself up. His hair all fell out in May and we can not believe how quickly it has come back in, its thick and no bald spots, he continues to be quite the cutie. He is definitely Mr. Personality!!! He thinks that everyone is here for him. He smiles, coos and laughs at everyone. He is such a sweetheart and a total joy!!! There have been some days that I have had meetings at work this month and my mom has come over to watch him. She can't get over what an easy baby he is. He will keep himself totally entertained. My mom calls him the scientist as that he is very focus and serious when playing with his toys. It is funny to watch.
Here are some pictures from our recent adventures.
